What Day is Today??!!

On Sat we cycled from Watonga to Oklahoma City.  Strong headwinds were discouraging but to our surprise we found out we were staying at the Marriott hotel in Oklahoma City compliments of Clyde Caldwell, a Board member of the newly formed Fuller Center for Housing here.  The hotel treated us royally and we finally had real beds to sleep in - what a treat!   The seniors (Doug, Tony & Chris) were dispatched to the "snoring" room and the others divided up the remaining rooms.

Clyde arranged a press conference for us upon arrival followed by a terrific dinner at Toby Keith's restaurant, where the food and camaraderie were excellent.  Several other local Board members and Clyde's wife Charlene joined us as well.

Josh was able to get his bike fixed in record time at a local bike shop called Bicycle Alley (www.bicyclealleyokc.com) where Terry Enos took good care of us.  Great shop with a coffee shop next store

Tomorrow (Sunday) is our day off and Clyde has arranged for us to speak at several churches followed by lunch at the Spaghetti Warehouse.  Thanks Clyde and Charlene for being such gracious hosts, for helping us spread the word about our mission and for getting the Fuller Center for Housing covenant partnership started here in Oklahoma City!

We ask for your special prayers for Linda Fuller who is undergoing knee surgery on Tuesday  July 15th.  We pray that God guide over her doctors and that she have a speedy recovery.  We would also like to ask for prayers for Jack Wolters a long-time Habitat Care-A-Vaner volunteer who we met in Salome AZ.  Jack is in Minneapolis MN where he is undergoing some cardiac tests.  We ask that his tests be successful and that all goes well.

Clyde told us a funny expression that's apparently used here in Oklahoma.  He mentioned that Toby Keith "doesn't mind telling you how the cow ate the cabbage".  Translation: Toby can be a pain in the keyster (but his restaurant sure serves some good food!).

Hard to believe that our trip is half over with 4 more weeks to go before we ride into Savannah GA.

As they used to say at the end of Loony-Toons  - "That's all folks! (for now)

In partnership,
Doug
